Werewolf narrator script
Everything the narrator says in a game of Werewolf, in order. Read it aloud, print it, or let the app read it for you in a full voice-acted narration.
Nightfall
“Night falls on the village. Everyone… close your eyes.”
Later nights: “Darkness returns to the village. Close your eyes.”
Calling each role
Call only the roles in your game. Cupid wakes on the first night only; the Witch must come after the werewolves. Pause a few seconds for each role, even dead ones, so nobody can tell who is still alive.
Witch
“Witch, open your eyes. Will you use your healing potion… or your poison?”
“Witch, close your eyes.”
Cupid(first night only)
“Cupid, open your eyes. Choose two players to fall in love.”
“Cupid, gently tap your two lovers on the shoulder. Lovers, open your eyes and look at each other. You live… and die together.”
“Cupid, close your eyes.”
Dawn
“Everyone, open your eyes! The sun rises over the village…”
If nobody died:
“Miraculously… nobody died last night!”
For each death:
“[Name] was found dead, torn apart by the werewolves!”
“[Name] was found dead, poisoned in the night!”
“[Name] cannot live without their love, and dies of a broken heart.”
If you reveal roles on death, add the role, e.g.:
“They were the Seer!”
If the Hunter dies:
“[Name] was the Hunter! With your dying breath, choose who you take down with you!”
“With a final shot, the Hunter takes down [Name].”
Day: discussion and vote
Give the village a few minutes to talk, then call the vote. Everyone points at once on the count of three.
“Thirty seconds left!”
“Time is up! The village must now vote.”
“It is time to vote!”
The verdict
“The village has spoken. [Name] is eliminated.”
“The village could not agree. Nobody is eliminated today.”
The end of the game
“The last werewolf is gone! The village wins!”
“The werewolves outnumber the villagers… The werewolves win!”
“Only the two lovers remain. Love conquers all! The lovers win!”
Tips for narrators
- Keep your voice and timing the same for every role, so nobody can guess roles from your tone.
- Ask players to tap or hum while their eyes are closed; it covers the sound of people moving.
- Never react to what you see at night. A smile when the wolves pick someone gives the game away.
- Write down each night's actions; with a Witch and a Doctor it's easy to lose track.
Questions
What does the Werewolf narrator do?
The narrator (or moderator) runs the game without playing: they call each role at night, keep track of who was attacked or saved, announce deaths at dawn, time the discussion and count the vote.
In what order should the narrator call the roles?
First-night roles like Cupid go first. After that, any order works as long as the Witch is called after the werewolves, because she needs to know who they attacked.
Can we play without a narrator?
Yes. The Werewolf Narrator app reads this script aloud and tracks everything, so nobody has to sit out.
