Werewolf team
The Werewolf in Werewolf
The hidden killers. Each night they wake together and choose a victim; by day they lie.
- Wakes every night
- Recommended from 5 players
- Also called: the Mafia (Mafia), Mafioso, Assassins
How the Werewolf works
Werewolves know each other from the first night: when the narrator calls them, they open their eyes, see who else is a wolf and silently agree on one player to eliminate.
By day they pretend to be villagers, join the accusations and steer the vote away from themselves. They win as soon as there are as many werewolves alive as villagers, because from then on they control every vote.
Most games use one werewolf for every four or five players: one wolf for 5–6 players, two for 7–11, three for 12–15 and four for 16 or more.

What the narrator says
“Werewolves, open your eyes. Silently choose your victim.” … “Werewolves, close your eyes.”
The full script for every role is on the narrator script page.
How to play the Werewolf
- Don't go quiet. Silent players get voted out; talk as much as you did when you were a villager.
- Don't defend your fellow wolf too hard. If they're doomed, voting with the village buys you trust.
- Kill the players who are reading the table well, not just the loudest ones. A sharp villager is more dangerous than a noisy one.
- If someone claims Seer, decide fast as a pack whether to kill them tonight or to counter-claim. Hesitating gets you caught.
Playing against the Werewolf
- Watch the vote, not the talk. Wolves rarely vote against each other until it's hopeless.
- Ask people who they'd kill if they were a wolf. Wolves often hesitate because they already know.
- Remember who died: the wolves chose them, so ask who benefited from that player being gone.
The most common mistake
Over-explaining. Villagers don't build alibis; werewolves who justify every move stand out.
Questions about the Werewolf
How many werewolves should there be?
About one for every four or five players. With the app's auto-balance: 1 wolf for 5–6 players, 2 for 7–11, 3 for 12–15, 4 for 16–18.
Can werewolves kill each other?
No. The pack chooses a victim from the other players. Some house rules allow it, but the app keeps the classic rule.
What if the werewolves can't agree?
In person they point until they agree; in the app the pack picks one victim together on the phone.
