How the Jester works

The Jester is on neither team. Their only goal is to be eliminated by the town's vote. If that happens, the Jester wins on their own, and in many groups the game ends there.

Being killed by the Mafia at night doesn't count. The Jester has to convince the town they're dangerous enough to vote out, without being so obvious that everyone realises what they are.

How to play the Jester

1.Be suspicious in small, believable ways: dodge a question, change your vote late, defend the wrong person.
2.Don't overdo it. A player who is begging to be voted out gets ignored.
3.Claim a power role late in the game. A shaky Detective claim is perfect Jester bait.

Playing against the Jester

1.When a player seems too suspicious, ask whether a Jester is in play before voting.
2.As Mafia, a Jester is a distraction you can use: keep the town arguing about them.
3.If you're sure someone is the Jester, the Mafia can kill them at night so the town can't hand them the win.
